About Honor Flight KC

Based upon recent statistics,

we are losing WWII veterans at a rate of 1000 per day.

Honor Flight Network™ is a non-profit organization created for the sole purpose of thanking and honoring America’s veterans for all their sacrifices by flying our heroes to Washington, DC to visit and to reflect at their memorials.

Honor Flight Network™ first took off in May 2005, with six small planes flying twelve WWII veterans from Springfield, OH to Washington, DC. In 2006, with a waiting list of veterans expanding rapidly, Honor Flight Network™ transitioned to utilizing commercial airline carriers to accommodate the maximum number of veterans possible. HonorAir in Hendersonville, NC and Hero Flight in Provo, UT then joined forces, creating the current Honor Flight Network™

Honor Flight Network™ does whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of veterans. Most importantly, our heroes travel absolutely free. Top priority is given to the senior veterans; WWII survivors, along with those veterans that may be terminally ill. Volunteers, at their own expense, assist the veterans on the Honor Flight Network™ trips.

Honor Flight KC, the regional Hub of Honor Flight Network™, was established by five senior-serving organizations to celebrate veterans in the metro region. Our team of dedicated Board of Director members and core volunteers work diligently to secure financial contributions from Kansas City area individuals, businesses, and foundations to cover travel costs for our local veterans. We are a 501(c)3, currently accepting donations under Kendallwood Hospice.
